Yuri loves Montreal!
Montrealers sure know how to party! Our Yuri’s Night 08 Montreal was just out of this world. We had guests in fabulous costumes, NASA and CSA posters all over the place, I hung some of my astronomical art, and we had a projector so we could show some more space images and astro-art iMovies. There were space-themed drinks, such as my favourite: the Cosmonaut, made of Vodka and Tang. Mmmh - orange!

Some pictures taken by friends Jérôme Paradis and Dita Kubin
One of my personal highlights was Marianne’s friend Kelli who is a hoola-hoop aficionado, and who gave a brilliant hoola-hoop show while having space art projected onto her. Top that, Saturn!
We also got one of the guys to dress up as Yuri Gagarin in a heavy-duty astronaut costume, which I had rented in a costume store. At about 1am (we missed midnight, busy partying) we toasted Yuri with Vodka jello-shots. Originally the party was supposed to end at 3am, but then someone showed up with bagels and cream cheese at 3:30am, and we just kept going. Finally the space cadets departed at about 4:30am and the clean-up began. We divided the left-over bottles of vodka between us, but I kept all the Tang. I think I’ll be drinking Cosmonauts for a while!
I’ll be up-dating the www.yurisnightmontreal.com website with some new photos soon, so stay tuned. The Yuri’s Night Montreal team is already looking forward to our Yuri’s Night 2009 party!
