It’s the start of a new year – and the start of a new blog.
It’s also the start of a new painting. This is a continuation of the “Amelia” series, and my idea is to paint the Pleiades in the background and superimpose the face of Amelia Earhart on the cluster, giving it the feeling of a dark nebula (if you want to know why I’m painting Amelia Earhart, check out this webpage. Because I work in acrylics (which have a tendancy to get muddy when mixed too much) I layer my colours rather than mix them; building up semi-transparent coats of colour until I get a rich, complex surface.
Just so you’re not surprised that all you see is PURPLE – it’ll change…
I’m not actually really into the colour purple, and the only thing I like right now about this painting is its size (48″ x 48″).
