Not just for druids... This fascinating ancient Irish writing system has now been turned into a computer font.
Ancient Ogham's lines are cragged, as though they have been chissled into rock or stone. Each Ancient Ogham character corresponds to a character in the "English" alphabet, with some exceptions: since there's no k,j,p,v,w, or x in the Ogham alphabet, they have been substituted with characters that most closely resemble them in English (see illustration on the right). This makes Ancient Ogham much easier to use than scholarly fonts which rely on special keystroke codings and a basic knowledge of Ogham. With Ancient Ogham you can just type away!
Ogham is found carved in stone at ancient sites
such as Newgrange in Ireland. To find out more about the Ogham alphabet, visit
